"Watch" Me Charge

Face it. There are some inconvenient times and places to see "1% battery" on your device. Be it during an important phone call, while you are about to break a video game record or taking a picture with your favorite actor who happened to be on your airplane flight – battery drainage never seems to happen at a good time. Plenty of portable charging devices exist, yet many take the inconvenient shape of a brick.

Miniinthebox sells a more convenient power option for those critical charge times. Meet the Wrist Watch Pattern 1500mAh Portable Battery, $34.99. No it isn't a watch, but being patterned after one means the spare power lives closest to where your device is held. So make that call, keep playing your game or take that picture in confidence. 1500mAh probably won’t get you through the day. But it will get you some solid hours of use – at least enough to get you to a charger. The unit comes with Lithium ion battery wrist band with mini-USB output, charging cord and 7 different adaptors to cover most major phone brands and Nintendo DS. So share it around the house or use it on your different devices. But most importantly have an extra charge right near the palm of your hand.

The Scary Mary Haunted Mirror – If Looks Could Kill

The folks over at the hauntersdepot.com offer you The Scary Mary Haunted Mirror. Did you ever play the game as a kid? (standing at the mirror in the dark chanting “Scary Mary” waiting for her to appear?) Well, now you can be assured that she will, not just for you, but for your unsuspecting guests. The mirror, while stylish and ornate graces your wall innocently enough until activated by time or even more effectively, by pressure sensitive switch mat, then stand back and watch the fun as your everyday mirror slowly transforms and then suddenly startles with a horrifying, screaming, and most certainly scary, Mary. Please don’t miss the video of Mary in action here.

The Scary Mary Mirror is pretty easy to hang, and the kit includes a low profile wall mount so the special effect won’t be spoiled with an extra thick frame or a pesky false cabinet. The mirror system is 40 inches tall and 28 inches wide and comes fully equipped and operational with an LCD panel, DVD player (complete with HDMI cable), the wall mount, and a nifty portrait light to call attention to your little friend. The switch mat, or optional remote is sold separately and don’t feel as though you’re stuck with Mary forever, the routine can be changed, with several different options, including Killer Clowns! Of course quality horrors like Mary don’t come cheap, and the price tag on this one may be enough of a scare for you for a long time. The Scary Mary Mirror starts at around 1700 bucks at hauntersdepot.com. Ask yourself this though, can you really put a price on one of your best pals screaming like a 6 year old girl? I don’t think so.

We have our share of specialty bra’s. A large selection in fact, ranging from cleavage enhancing jeweled spectaculars to water-bra’s and nifty little inflatable numbers, that while a bit deceptive, can make you look quite well endowed in a nice form fitting sweater. Using a non-invasive dynamic temperature analysis of the breast, coupled with the bioinformatics software, the technology may actually be able to detect tissue changes that can occur years before a tumor forms and this miraculous bra may be useful as an in office cancer screening tool or maybe even as an over the counter testing device.

So this 1000 dollar device doesn’t squeeze your breasts between plexiglass plates, it doesn’t subject you to radiation, it’s non-invasive, and non-toxic and can tell me if my breasts are healthy? Sign me up!  Check out the FirstWarningSystems.com website for more information.

I have a very good friend, that is not only a fantastic guy, he devotes quite a bit of his time to helping others. He is an EMT, he participates in search and rescue, he’s been in third world countries dispensing medical care. I hear some of the stories, and I am amazed at how many horrible tragedies could have been avoided with proper communication. I also worry about his safety as well.

Well, now “no service” cell phone issues can become a thing of the past. The new SPOT Connect will actually turn your smartphone  into a satellite communicator. So in your exploration of the great outdoors, whether it be for work or pleasure, you simply need to pair your smartphone with the waterproof SPOT Connect, and the power of a vast global satellite network is literally, in your hands.

The SPOT Connect has several other worthwhile features, depending on your particular degree of rugged outdoor adventure, including SOS, Help, tracking, check-ins/OK and pre-set messaging that sends GPS location to your selected recipients as well. Apple updates their Mac mini, is cheapest Mac to date

When someone says that he or she is going to pick up an Apple Mac computer, you would most probably think that said person does have a pretty full bank account to begin with. After all, Mac computers do carry the reputation (which is not that true anymore these days) that they are more expensive than their PC counterparts. For folks who want the Apple experience without the need for so much firepower, here is news for you – there is a spanking new updated Mac mini that carries with it a third generation dual-core Intel Core i5 and quad-core Intel Core i7 processors, while carrying integrated graphics which are touted to be up to 65% faster than its predecessor. The updated Mac mini will feature 4GB RAM (maximum of 16GB), a quartet of USB 3.0 ports, Thunderbolt support, HDMI output, an SDXC memory card slot, Gigabit Ethernet, and FireWire 800 ports.

All of those will be crammed into the very same compact aluminum form factor, without causing it to overheat or consume more juice than it ought to. In fact, the Mac mini is capable of meeting stringent Energy Star 5.2 requirements and achieve an EPEAT Gold rating. Sipping on just 11W of juice when idle, it has been claimed by Apple to be the "most energy efficient desktop computer in the world". You can pick up the Mac Mini from $599 onward if you are interested, depending on the configuration.

Apple updates iPad, some call it the iPad 3S

It seems that apart from the Mac mini, there is an incremental update being made to the mainstay of Apple's tablet business, which would be the new iPad. Of course, having said that, the new iPad of the past is not so new any more with the updated fourth generation iPad with Retina Display, where it will pack a faster A6X processor that can be found in the iPhone 5. This basically means the fourth generation iPad is an iPhone 5 with a far larger display, albeit without the kind of phone functionality that the iPhone 5 carries with it.

Maintaining its 9.7-inch Retina Display and powered by the new Apple-designed A6X processor, the new iPad will also feature a FaceTime HD camera and ultrafast wireless performance (more LTE networks will be supported worldwide in addition to dual-band Wi-Fi connectivity), running on iOS 6. Pricing for the fourth generation iPad with Wi-Fi models stand at $499, $599 and $699 for the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models, respectively. What do you think of the incremental upgrades, and if you have just picked up a third generation iPad yesterday, how do you feel about the whole situation?

Apple unveils stunning new iMac

Apple has done it again, and after so many generations of the iMac, here we are with the slimmest version to date. The all-new iMac sports one of the most stunning industrial designs ever, where it will be accompanied by a brilliant display alongside reduced reflection, not to mention faster processors that make up part of Intel's third generation quad-core Ivy Bridge processors, powerful NVIDIA graphics as well as an innovative new storage option known as Fusion Drive. The new iMac sports high-performance technology into an aluminum and glass enclosure, sporting up to 40% less volume compared to its predecessor, an edge which measures all of just 5mm thin.

Not only that, the completely reengineered display is said to have reduced reflection by up to 75% without sacrificing on the kind of brilliant color and contrast that one has come to know and love. The new design sees the cover glass come in a fully laminated manner, where its anti-reflective coating is applied via a high-precision plasma deposition process. All iMacs that ship have been individually color calibrated thanks to an advanced spectroradiometer.

Underneath the hood, there lies a 3rd generation quad-core Intel Core i5 processor, and if you feel the need for more speed, you can opt to upgrade it to Core i7. It carries a minimum of 8GB RAM and a 1TB hard drive, although if your budget permits, you are able to pick up your iMac with up to 32GB RAM as well as a spanking new 3TB hard drive. Alternatively, you can opt for up to 768GB of flash storage if ultimate performance is one of your needs. Other connectivity options include a couple of Thunderbolt and a quartet of USB 3.0 ports.

As for Fusion Drive, this innovative new storage option offers customers the performance of flash storage without compromising on the capacity that one gets with a hard drive. This means 128GB of flash memory has been merged with a standard 1TB or 3TB hard drive, resulting in a single storage volume. I would say this is Apple's fancy name for a hybrid drive, nothing new or groundbreaking in the market as hard drive manufacturers have come up with that in the past years.

The 21.5" and 27" iMac will retail from $1,299 and $1,799 onward.

Apple unveils the iPad mini

It is Apple picking time today, and here we are with a spanking new iPad for the mass market. In fact, you can say that if the late Steve Jobs were to be around today, there might not be an iPad mini, or he would unapologetically claim that there is a need in the 7" tablet market that Apple wants to create upon the iPad mini's announcement, never mind the fact that he did insinuate that the 7" tablet market is dead in the water right from the get go, which was why Apple came up with the iPad in the first place. Well, the new iPad mini sports a totally new iPad design that makes it 23% thinner (some say it is literally pencil thin) and 53% lighter than the third generation iPad. Sporting a stunning 7.9-inch Multi-Touch display, FaceTime HD and iSight cameras, you know that the iPad mini is a bundle that was made to sell. The thing is, is the target market those who have yet to jump aboard the iPad bandwagon, and will current iPad owners bite as well?

Sporting up to 10 hours of battery life, it is small enough to hold in one hand. Meh, nothing new here, as 7" tablets from other hardware manufacturers have been able to do that for the longest time already. Apple claims that the 7.9-inch Multi-Touch display delivers a similar iPad experience that we all know and love, offering 35% more screen real estate compared to Android-powered 7-inch tablets, in addition to having 67% more usable viewing area when browsing the web. A dual-core A5 chip runs the show from underneath the hood, while the front-facing FaceTime HD camera and a 5 megapixel iSight camera at the back with advanced optics ensures you are able to capture amazing images on the move.

Not only that, theiPad mini comes with dual-band 802.11n Wi-Fi support, while Wi-Fi + Cellular models will be able to support ultrafast wireless standards, such as LTE and DC-HSDPA. The iPad mini with Wi-Fi models will come in black and slate or white and silver colors from November 2nd onwards, where the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models will go for $329, $429 and $529, respectively. Top up $130 if you want the Wi-Fi + Cellular iPad mini at its respective storage space.
