Facebook Delays Public Timeline Launch (video) Posted: 03 Oct 2011 07:15 AM PDT Following on from the introduction of its new Facebook Timeline feature late last month a Chicago company called Timelines.com has claimed that the new Facebook Timeline service will threaten their business and possible force them to close, and has now engaged in to legal proceeding against Facebook. However Judge Edmond Chang has refused to grant Timelines.com a temporary restraining order on Facebook and declined to stop Facebook users signing up for the new feature through Facebook’s developer program. Which has already seen nearly 1.1 million Facebook users signup to the new feature, with 100,000 to 200,000 more signing on every day. The feature which has been available in the UK and Europe for some time provides a custom way of creating playlists similar to that of listening to a radio broadcast, but didn’t roll out in the US when Spotify arrived two months a ago. The Bolshoi Universe Simulation is currently the most accurate cosmological simulation of the evolution of the large-scale structure of the universe and took four years to create and 6 million cpu hours to run on the Pleiades supercomputer. Its been constructed to provide astronomers around the world with new guides for observing and describing the most distant galaxies that telescopes can see. Battlelog is the stats tracking and social service of Battlefield 3 which includes mobile apps, with Facebook-like features, forums, and much more. Under the footrest Fritsch has incorporated a small electric motor that can reach a cruising speed of 35 km/hr (21.7 mph) for a range of about 40 km/hr (24.8 mph). Google Maps Gets New Helicopter View Posted: 03 Oct 2011 01:23 AM PDT This week Google has launched a new update for its Google Maps service which has brought with it a new helicopter view, which shows you a birds eye view of your route. The new 3D preview feature as Google calls it provides you with an aerial view of the route, as if you were in a helicopter or bird flying above the road. You can now view your routes before you travel them and even just fly around to explore ares. To enter the new mode just click on the "3D" play button. The map will then switch to Earth view and automatically start flying you along your recommended route.
