Apple Siri Versus Google Jelly Bean: Voice Search Showdown

Credit Apples Siri--the iPhone 4S virtual assistant that answers your spoken questions--with having made many of us comfortable talking to a phone, not just into one. But Siris not the only game in town. Googles newest version of Android, dubbed Jelly Bean, has beefed up its voice recognition in search. To see how the two compare, PCWorlds Armando Rodriguez and Liviu Oprescu asked both disembodied voices a series of 17 identical questions. Ultimately Jelly Bean came out on top, but Siri proved to have more personality. When asked to "sing me a song," Siri paid homage to the movie 2001 with a rendition of "Daisy" (Google simply performed a search for the phrase "sing me a song"). Similarly, the request to "tell me a story" yielded an original tale about "an AI named Siri" from Apples entry; Google again reverted to a basic search. And how about the answer to the meaning of life? Both Siri and Jelly Bean had different takes on that one. Check out this week's top story and prepare to be enlightened.
