Googles Latest Goodies: From Sci-Fi Glasses to Jelly Beans

Give Google credit: They certainly know how to put on a show. In this case, the show is called Google I/0, a three-day rollout of new technologies, carefully orchestrated for an adoring crowd of developers, fans, and some journalists at the San Francisco Moscone Center. The flashiest presentation came on Wednesday, when four parachutists--all wearing Googles connected Project Glass eyeglasses--shared their jump live with the crowd via a Google+ hangout, as they landed on the roof of the convention center. The faithful also snapped up news of Jelly Bean (Android 4.1), updated Chromebooks, and a $200 Nexus 7 tablet. But the most significant development for everyday users may be the changes Google is making to its cloud-based productivity apps. Starting immediately, youll be able to work on documents (and in time, spreadsheets and presentations) when youre not connected to the Net. A little competition for Microsoft Office? Yes, indeed.
