Remember Less Is More When It Comes To Playing Lead Guitar Solos

Remember Less Is More When It Comes To Playing Lead Guitar Solos

Click here to watch videoHey Bharath,

A concept that is overlooked by every young guitarist venturing into soloing is the “Less is more” approach.

A lot of guitarists in their early stages believe that they have to fill every bit of space of their solo with a flurry of notes, however this is equal to someone talking way too fast without taking a breath or a writer who doesn’t use punctuation.

An effective solo is many times the solo that we start humming hours or days later. It’s melodic and leaves space to let the other instruments breathe and allows the listener to absorb each phrase.

Below is an example of a solo using a minimalist approach and making the most of each note con tributing to a polished, cohesive solo.

I must also note that all the examples in this course will make use of the same backing track in E minor so you can hear how the soloing strategies in each lesson affect the overall color, mood and style. Enjoy!
