Talk Nerdy to Me
I want a Tardis for Christmas this year. If I can't have Dr. Who's space-time traveling machine, then I guess I'll have to console myself with a Tardis cookie jar. I got the idea from our top story this week, a compendium of unusual gift ideas. "62 Projects to Make With a Dead Computer" also looks good (I have a few of those lying around), as does the Arduino Starter Pack. If you know a techie who already has everything, check out "Awesome Gifts for the Geek in Your Life"--chances are you'll find something for that special geek.

Free Software Worth a Donation, Part 2

We often think of software as either commercial or free. But there is another category of software: donationware. It's given away for free, in the hope that users will donate to support the application or a cause the developer wishes to bolster. Part II of this series covers the lesser-known gems. For well-known donationware and some great reasons to donate, read "Part 1."
