Nothing is more fundamental to human health than having clean air to breathe and keeping toxic pollutants out of our air and water supply. A few days ago, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency took a big step forward to ensure cleaner air for all Americans when it issued the first national standards aimed at cutting mercury and other toxic air pollutants from power plants by as much as 90 percent. The new standards will not only make Americans healthier, they will also create thousands of new jobs and save billions of dollars in health care costs every year.
